Yes, you CAN help

Good grief, Charlie Brown, and, almost, everyone else!  Here we are, watching our morning news programs (it is Sunday, after all,) and who do I see on “Meet the Press?”  Our Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.  My question to everyone today is:  Did our Democrats come up with our Secretary of State simply by reading his name?  If so, where do we find “Winken” and “Nod?”

Why do I find humor (I guess that’s what I should call it) no matter where I might look?  Is everything in our world today something to be laughed at?  Or should we all be crying?

You tell me, America.  Better yet, how about preparing (and sending) an email to our country’s President?  It’s pretty obvious he needs all the help he can get.  I’ll help.  Should I ask you, too, to help?  (https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/)

Good God!  What else is there?

Really!

Problems? I'll say!

PBS news hour is on now.  What is being seen here, though?  Problem after problem, I'd say.  Looks like we could be in major trouble as a world in a matter of days.  Well, that's about it for today.  Want more on this subject, check a few days ago.  Now, just think about what is happening here--Putin's pootin' over and over again.  What country would choose someone with a name like that?  Well, we chose TeeRump, didn't we?  Well?  Have passed on my name to our Senators with the comment that I am well and able to take up some of the slack at our National Guard base (McEntire, that is) outside of Columbia towards Sumter.  May not know the radios today, but can do whatever work might be needed.  Hope the others that Bob Barkalow et.al. might come up with can do the same for their past capabilities.  Hope, hope, hope!!!

That's all for today.  Thanks for taking the time for Blogger!  (i.e., Morningbrain-"Deux...")  And, to finish that title, add on "Ummmm, Absolutely Nothing!"  Don't remember the song all that well, but the title says it all for me.  WWIV?  God, I hope not!~!!

VD, One More Time!!

 Again une fois!

OK, so what can I say!!  I liked it the first time, but, it seems some dufus at some home office didn't, and he, she, or it (gotta watch out for contractions here,) so, here is a redo of my former post!  Why a redo, you might say?  Well, look at the previous post and tell me--you do know what day and time this is, right?  (And those of you who come up with: "It's Howdy Doody time," well, we know a little bit about that--your age, perhaps?)  :   Here 'tis:

Problems? I'll say!

PBS news hour is on now.  What is being seen here, though?  Problem after problem, I'd say.  Looks like we could be in major trouble as a world in a matter of days.  I hope not, but this is just what I'm seeing.  Anyone else may not see it, but I am one of those guys who was not all that good at doing what I was tasked to do at Georgia Tech.  What I did well in, though, was ROTC.  Imagine that.  And, when I flunked out of school I found my main opportunity for employment was the military.

Interestingly enough, when I discussed the problem with our local Army Recruiter, he looked at my draft card and told me he couldn't even discuss recruitment with me since I had a deferment to allow for my studies at Ga. Tech.  Of course those studies were a moot point since I had been laid off (or so I say) from my studenthood thanks to my marvelous performance with my studies.  Marvelous!  Flunked out marvelous.  No problem, though, since the Airforce and Navy recruiters did not have the same outlook as the Army recruiter had.  Poor training?  Who knows.  USAF it was to be.

Turns out that was a blessing in disguise.  The Air Force was just what I needed.  I obtained training in electronics maintenance and had the opportunity to see the world on the government's ticket.  South Texas was for basic training.  Following basic training, I was sent to Biloxi, Mississippi (Keesler AFB) for technical training on microwave radios.  Then on to Turkey (Istanbul, at that) for my first duty station and VietNam for my second.

And there could have been a problem for real if those mortar rounds that the VC threw at us at Tahn Son Nhut, the USAF part of the Saigon Airport, had been just a few yards off their actual track, but they weren't.  Life was good.  26 guys couldn't say that, though, not after the attack we had during Tet of '68. Oh, well--want more than this, you'll just have to buy my book.  It's on sale at Amazon.

That's all for today.  Thanks for taking the time for Blogger!

Facebook, anyone?

Facebook is a place where many of us communicate our ideas with other facebook users.  As such, often we may forget things that may be useful to the readers of our blogs--which is what I did today.  So, to correct same, here is my post at https://www.facebook.com/steve.geddes.792, for February 6, 2022:

"If I had chosen a party designation for myself, what would I do next? Probably nothing. And, in so doing, I would be accomplishing nothing. We voters need to be very careful--the party is not always right! Unfortunately many of our elected leaders do not accept, or even have a clue as to the reasonability of this statement. Here's to the Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and others who take the time to decide what they actually think about any and all issues that they are asked to agree or disagree with. Thought is what is needed of our leaders--not simply following the 'party line,' whatever that may be."
